Richard Wilson

I'm a Linguistics PhD student at the University of Edinburgh, in the School of Philosophy, Psychology, and Language Science. PPLS. My thesis looks at the syntax of radical pro-drop.

Research

My PhD thesis looks at the syntax of radical pro-drop. I primarily use data from Thai (tha), but also consult speakers of Chinese (cmn) and Japanese (jpn).

  • Worked on a project led by Itamar Kastner to transition the syntax block of the course to a Skills Based Grading model
  • Developed skills-based assessment criteria and assessment tasks
  • Designed tutorial materials for the four week syntax block

EESS: English for Education and Social Sciences (LLLG07145)

  • Delivered 6 weeks of classes preparing students for postgraduate programmes in education and the social sciences
  • Team-lead for a group of five teachers delivering the EESS course
  • Assessed students' final submissions and took part in moderation
  • Designed input for sessions on the use of reference management tools, structuring an argument, and the use of listening diaries
